With the Jaguars set to open the 2017 season in Jacksonville, a lot of questions surround the future of one of their players.
With the Jaguars opening the season in the Jacksonville area, the Jaguars have a lot riding on their 2017 season.
And while there are a few players who have been mentioned in this space for a while, one name that has not come up is wide receiver Asepsiesa.
In the weeks leading up to the Jaguars season opener, the Jags announced that they had cut Aseposie.
The move is a shock to the Jaguars fanbase as Asepssiesa has been one of the team’s top players.
While Asepoiessia is not a sure thing to make the team, he is certainly a player to keep an eye on during the first two weeks of the season.
Asepsis is the 6th wide receiver in Jaguars history to play in at least 10 games, so the move makes sense for the team.
With Aseepsiesa now playing in Jacksonville instead of the Houston Texans, the Jacksonville Jaguars will have some depth at the position.
The Jaguars are also going to be relying on two rookie wide receivers to contribute in the offense.
The first of these players is the speedy wide receiver Jalen Saunders.
Saunders was a first round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and is already proving to be a solid veteran presence.
Saunders caught seven passes for 82 yards and a touchdown in 2016, and he was even named a preseason first team All-Pro by Pro Football Focus.
The Jaguars will definitely want to see Saunders play on a regular basis in 2017.
The other rookie wide receiver to be featured on the roster is tight end D’Onta Foreman.
Foreman is a former high school All-American who was selected by the Jaguars in the fourth round of the 2016 draft.
He played for the Jacksonville Seahawks in 2017 and played well in limited action.
The tight end position will be very interesting to watch during the Jaguars 2017 season as the Jaguars are going to need to find a new long-term solution for the position, which is a position that is a major concern for the Jaguars.
A lot of things can change during the preseason, and there are many unknowns heading into the season, so let’s take a look at the Jaguars roster for the upcoming season.
Who should watch for during the 2017 Jaguars season?
The Jaguars 2017 offensive line will be an important part of their offense.
As mentioned earlier, the team will be relying a lot on wide receivers and tight ends, so it is not surprising that a number of players are expected to be on the field during the 2016 preseason.
The biggest question for the Jaxas offensive line is who will be on that offensive line?
The Jacksonville Jaguars offensive line has been very good this preseason, so who should be the first-team left tackle on the line this year?
With the season opener being held in Jacksonville in the area, it is highly unlikely that the Jaguars offensive linemen will be able to make any major impact on the offense during the season until they make it to Jacksonville.
In that case, the most important position to watch for is the right tackle position.
While the Jaguars do not have any major depth at left tackle, they have some key players that can help their line make a difference.
Last season, the position saw two players get drafted in the first round and it is no surprise that one of those players was Jacksonville tackle John Hughes.
Hughes played in all 13 games as a rookie and had the best game of his career in Week 1 against the Houston Oilers.
Hughes, along with former Jacksonville tackle DeMarcus Walker, are the only players who are likely to make it onto the Jaguars starting line-up this year.
It is a safe bet that Hughes will start the season on the left side of the line.
The other offensive lineman on the team is former Jacksonville left tackle/guard Evan Mathis, who has been a fixture in the Jaguars’ offensive line for a number or years now.
The offensive line position will probably be a bit of a mystery heading into 2017, so here are some players that we will be keeping an eye out for throughout the preseason.
